Not exactly breaking news about the album, but at least the guessing about an American release is clarified with this press release…

(New York, NY) — International pop icon Kylie Minogue will continue to rule the dancefloor with the release of a brand-new collection of remixes of her classic songs, entitled Boombox The Remix Album 2000-2008, on January 27th on Astralwerk Records. The collection features remixes by some of the world’s most sought-after producers, including Chemical Brothers, Fischerspooner, Mylo, and Sebastian Leger.

Considering that “X” barely went Tin here in the States, and peaked at a paltry #139, I am actually really shocked that this set is going to see the light of day. One interesting thing to note is that it’s under the Astralwerks banner, which may have been its only saving grace in getting released here, given the label’s dance leanings. Could the Grammy for “Best Electronic/Dance Album” have helped, too? I’m sure the announcement of the U.S. tour to support “Boombox” will be made any day now.

One last note…iTunes will have a couple of exclusive tracks that won’t be on the physical release: Can’t Get You Out Of My Head (Greg Kurstin 2007 Mix) and Butterfly (Mark Piccotti Sandstorm Dub).
