The group filing the complaint is the musicFIRST Coalition, and it refuses to identify the artist. But there is speculation that it could be U2 frontman Bono.
Or it could be that the lead single from the current CD was trash. Just sayin’

An article I read pointed out that Will.I.Am is outspoken on this issue too, yet “Boom Boom Pow” receives more airplay than any other single this year. So I’m inclined to agree with the “stunt” assessment.
Well, whether it’s valid or not, they got their attention and publicity.
